If you wish to claim compensation under the policy, we will require a written declaration from your vet along with the particulars of the horse, the date of death, the cause of death and the means of death. Depending on the situation, an autopsy may be required (carried out, for example, by the health authorities or the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent or Liège). We will inform you in due course. The costs connected with an autopsy will in all cases be borne by you.
Payments on the basic policy
In the event of sudden death, emergency destruction or fire, the payment for a covered event is 100% of the insured value. Depending on the circumstances, a residual value may be deducted.
